Taking a second look at the calendar to make sure you aren’t going crazy? Not to worry, it’s me that’s gone nuts. Yes it really is August, and I’m here writing about Christmas candles. Hey they keep telling us Christmas is coming earlier each year right?
I had to make a special post about this one, because it is just so popular. It’s one of those scents that make people say “it’s the scent of WHAT?”. Always a fun conversation piece!
“I don’t burn candles in the summer” is one of the most often things we hear at outdoor craft shows this time of year. It’s pretty common for most not to want that “warm” feeling you get from a candle when it’s hot as heck outside.

Clean Crisp Air - This complex fragrance begins with top notes of fresh clover and ivy. Middle notes of baby’s breath, periwinkle, and lily of the valley. Base notes of ozony fresh notes.
Sweet Pea - A Yankee duplication. An English garden reminiscent of hyacinth, lily of the valley, violets and wild jasmine with a background of light herbal and musky notes.

While “unusual” candle scents can mean different things for different people, I decided it was about time to cover some I believe are “unusual”. I’m sure at least one of these you will have heard of, but for the most part I believe they are unique.
Coca Cola
Yes this is a candle scent! It’s actually one of my favorites. You would think it wouldn’t be a scent you’d like to smell in your home, but it’s actually very “clean” smelling. The normal reaction to this scent is “WOW!”
Fresh Cut Grass
Another favorite. This one is perfect in late winter, when you are just dying for the smell of spring and summer. Yes it really does smell like fresh cut grass!
Hummingbird
A very popular unusual candle scent. It’s actually a blend of fruit and florals. Makes a great gift when you can’t decide, since almost everyone loves this scent.
Doodle Bug
Another unusual candle scent, mostly because of the name. This scent is actually the smell of childhood - newborn baby, dum-dum suckers, watermelon, and bubblegum.

After many requests, we’ve decided to start a candle club within the next week or two. What this means is you will be able to buy a monthly membership in advance and have candle auto-shipped based on your scent preferences.
While the details aren’t set just yet, we do plan to have the option for types of scents and sizes. Because of the way the shopping cart is set up, you can also purchase these memberships for friends and family. This will make a great gift for those who love candles!

We’ve been a bit sneaky.
Last week the large 16oz “fish bowls” decorated candles were added to the site, and we didn’t announce it. Not on the blog and not in the newsletter. Oops!
What makes these decorated candles unique is they are decorated by scent. The candle pictured is in Caribbean Morning scent. You’ll see it’s decorated with “tropical” butterflies in an orange theme.
A few months back, my grandparents had their 60th wedding anniversary. As a gift, we donated several of these jars to be placed on the tables. All were in floral scents to hopefully please the masses. Each decorated with floral designs and pastel colors. They looked absolutely beautiful!
So anyway, the 16oz “Fish Bowl” jars are now available. The 8oz faceted jars were also released today. These are also decorated candles based on scent choice. Very fun gifts!
